Africa by Maya Angelou – The poem “Africa” by Maya Angelou is about Africa itself. By “she”, the poet meant Africa – the country. However, initially in time of reading the poem, I felt the poet is emphasizing upon a woman. The best part of the poem is that it involves vivid images and descriptions, which are worth contemplating. The personification of Africa as a woman is beautifully presented. The poet infused the poem with beautiful images full of metaphoric undertones.
